How much does vacuum repair cost in Richmond?
Every job at CFI Vacuum starts with an estimate — call (804) 262-9683 to arrange yours — and that estimate stays valid for 30 days, so you can take it home and think it over. The most common repairs we do — belt and brush roll replacement, filter service, cord and switch repairs, clog removal — cost a small fraction of what a comparable new machine would, which is why repair is usually the smart money. No work begins until you approve the number, and we put a hard guardrail in writing: if the actual cost would ever exceed the estimate by more than $25, we stop and contact you for approval first. Every repair also includes a 90-day warranty on the work performed, so the price you pay covers the fix actually holding. If a repair is not worth the money, we say so at the estimate stage — before you have spent anything.
Is my vacuum worth repairing?
Usually, yes — and we will tell you honestly when it is not. The rule of thumb Mike uses after three decades on the bench: if the repair costs less than half of what a comparable new machine would, repair it. Quality brands like Sebo, Sanitaire, Cirrus, and Dyson are deliberately built to be serviced — belts, brush rolls, filters, batteries, and even motors are all replaceable parts, and a well-maintained machine from these brands routinely runs fifteen years or more. Symptoms like lost suction, a stopped brush roll, a burning smell, or a cordless battery that dies in minutes are almost always repairable. Where we more often advise replacement is a failed motor on an entry-level machine, where the part costs approach the price of something better. Call for an estimate and find out exactly where your machine stands.
Do you offer a warranty on repairs?
Yes — every repair that leaves this shop carries a 90-day warranty covering the specific work performed. If the repair we made fails within those 90 days, you bring the machine back and we make it right at no charge. New parts follow the manufacturer's own specifications and carry their manufacturer warranties on top of ours; on the rare occasion we fit a used or refurbished part (always with your approval first, usually to save money on an older machine), that part carries a 30-day warranty. The warranty covers the repair we performed — it does not cover a different component failing later or damage from a new clog or accident — and we explain exactly what is covered when you pick the machine up.
Do you service commercial vacuum fleets?
Yes. Commercial work has been part of this shop since the beginning — we service Sanitaire and other commercial machines for janitorial companies, property managers, and businesses around Richmond. That includes scheduled preventive maintenance (belts, brush rolls, and bearings replaced before they fail mid-shift), motor rebuilds, cord and switch repairs, and rotating fleet machines through the shop so cleaning crews are never short of working equipment. When a machine goes down in the middle of a contract, commercial clients can reach us on the emergency line at (804) 677-8208. If you run a fleet, call (804) 262-9683 and we will put together a maintenance schedule that fits how hard your machines actually work.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes — CFI Vacuum works by appointment only, and that is deliberate. It means when you arrive, Mike's attention is on your machine instead of a walk-in queue, and diagnosis happens while you are standing there rather than days later. Call (804) 262-9683 to set a time; same-week appointments are usually available, and the visit itself is quick — most diagnoses take only minutes. When you call, it helps to have the vacuum's brand and model number handy (usually printed on the base or the back of the machine) along with a short description of the symptom. Often we can tell you over the phone roughly what you are looking at before you ever drive over.
